Welch v Amess
There is growing expectation that Liberal Democrat contender Peter Welch may be able to snatch a dramatic victory over under-fire Conservative MP, David Amess. The Liberal Democrat team has been out in force on local streets for the last year. Volunteers have flocked to Peter Welch's campaign, delivering leaflets and knocking on doors.
And the Welch campaign team report that they have received encouraging messages from long-standing Conservatives, ready to desert their party over expenses and competence.
