I am writing to you because the choices you make in the next week will make a huge difference to the chances of millions of kids, and their parents too.
We all know, and perhaps take for granted, the difference that a Labour government has made to families: millions now benefit from child and working tax credits, the child trust fund, Sure Start children's centres, free nursery education, extra maternity leave and the introduction of paternity leave. None of these things existed before 1997.
